Message from the Principal
We are happy to present to you the College’s Programme for 2010. The contents reflect a study of the banking environment in Ghana with its attendant opportunities and threats.
It also reflects feedback from questionnaire sent to the banks within the course of the year 2009. We are grateful to all the banks who responded to the questionnaire and we will continue to count on your cooperation and support as we work hard to remain relevant to your needs.
The College recognises the changing skills and needs of the banks and has realigned and will continue to realign its programmes to reflect these changes.
The Information, Communication Technology Faculty has introduced innovative programmes which interface with the various departments and functional areas in the banks. Strategic Marketing is given a renewed attention and emphasis in response to the feedback from our meeting with Human Resource Managers on the 17th November 2009.
Risk Management and the challenges of Basel II implementation would be a key area of concern as banks workout to meet the Bank of Ghana’s capitalisation deadline, and to take advantage of opportunities of an emerging oil economy.
We are also happy to inform you that our MBA Programme, set up in conjunction with the Netherlands Business School with its well researched materials and practical contents, continues to excite the students currently enrolled on the course. The flexible study periods help bank staff to keep their jobs and at the same time climb the professional and academic ladder.
The College’s data base indicates about 2,394 participants attended our 2009 scheduled programmes. It is our hope that participating banks would adhere to the quota system currently in place to avoid congestion and to ensure quality outcomes.
We also entreat programme participants to respect the various ground rules, including punctuality, and the use of mobile phones during lectures.
With an expanded infrastructural facilities, the infusion of new and committed faculty, we hope to give you a rewarding learning and training experience for the year 2010 and beyond.
Philip Buabeng
Principal
